FUGAZ: Féria de Performance

Dos Paraísos

FUGAZ is a performance festival founded in the Venezuelan state of Lara that proposes performance art as a means of enacting social criticism. FUGAZ brings performers and shareholders from across Venezuela and Latin America together in the city of Barquisimeto, turning it into a center of transformative experiences that will remain in the senses and cultural memory. The second edition of FUGAZ is supported by the Municipal Institute of Culture and Art of the Iribarren municipality (IMCA), and proposes an intervention of public space in daytime under the theme: "political discourses related to art". Using our bodies as political maps, performers are encouraged to communicate what draws our attention to art, as a concept and way of life. The performances will take place along an eight-block route that is part of the historic and commercial center of the city of Barquisimeto (from 26th street to 24, between Carreras 16 and Avenida 20 boulevard), streets that are in motion and where performances have been taking place in isolation.

For the second edition of FUGAZ, the following selections were made: Three (3) projects from Latin American countries outside of Venezuela, which covered internal transportation in the city of Barquisimeto, lodging, and food during the days of the event. Seven (7) projects from other states in Venezuela, to which the amount of 1000 Bs (per project) was to be contributed to cover their expenses in the city of Barquisimeto. Ten (10) projects from the state of Lara, which as usual were presented on the first day of the event, with no cost coverage due to being in the same city as the festival.
